Police, UPDF and other security forces have sealed off the Kamwokya headquarters of the National Unity Platform party in what appears to be an intended arrest.
Reports on ground indicate that most of the NUP bigwigs are enclosed in the party premises as security forces make calls to their bosses to give them further orders. The siege comes a day after the NUP president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine announced an intended Nationwide campaign slated for next week.
The western NUP coordinator, Saasi Marvin confirms that even the president is under arrest. “Heavy military a d police deployment at People Power – Uganda / National Unity Platform Secretariat in Kamwokya. Everyone at the Secretariat – including Bobi Wine – seems to be under arrest. Nobody knows what’s going on,” writes Saasi Marvin on Facebook.
We will divulge further details as more events unfold. Our reporter is on ground extracting details regarding the raid.
