On Tuesday November, 3 Amuriat faced the wrath of the police acting under the command of the Ndeeba church demolition head DPC David Epedu. The officers blocked Amuriat from accessing the FDC party headquarters in Najjanankumbi before prematurely arresting him. A defiant Amuriat was seen trying to resist the degrading arrests but he was overwhelmed by the numbers as they bundled him into a waiting Toyota Corona police car.
In the process of arrest, Amuriat’s shoes were confiscated by tbe no nonsense DPC Epedu whom todate has declined to return them. Amuriat appeared at the EC without shoes and justice Byabakama Simon without hesitation went ahead to nominate him.
FDC now says their candidate is to spend the 65 days campaign turning up at events without shoes. “I will campaign without shoes to send a message to Ugandans that we are all in captivity,” Amuriat says. “It’s also a good message to show our people the conditions we live in. Not everyone can afford shoes in tjis economy,” Amuriat told the press this morning.
His campaign trail will kick off on Monday at his ancestral home in Soroti where he is to launch his manifesto.
