According to sources, the signatures which were submitted on October, 2 have been rejected on grounds that they were seconding a different person, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yet the candidate on October, 6 swore a deed poll adding the name Tibahaburwa to his collection. “We have asked Kasule Lumumba and her team to repeat the entire process. This is in line with the new deed poll swore by Museveni. According to the copy pf the deed poll we received, he added the name Tibahaburwa on his documents,” says a source in the EC. “Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Yowei Tibahaburwa Museveni are two different people according to the laws under which we operate. We’ve asked the NRM party to repeat the process,” the source adds as he asks our reporter not to put him on record.
The 76 year old Museveni through his lawyers K&K advocates swore a deed poll altering his name ahead of the 2021 presidential election. This implies that for all the time Museveni has contested in the past elections, he has been leading Uganda illegally. Former EC chairman, Eng. Badru Kiggundu is under fire for authenticating Museveni’s 2006, 2011 and 2016 ‘victories’. A team lawyers is already filing suit to put the former custodian of the EC in the court dock to explain how he validated the nomination of Museveni in the preceding elections.
