No special security for Bobi Wine’s return, says Uganda Police

The Uganda Police Force has clarified that there will be no special security arrangements for the return of National Unity Platform (NUP) President, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rusoke Kituuma, made the remarks while responding to a query regarding the opposition leader’s anticipated return.

“There are no special security guidelines for the return of NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine.”

Bobi Wine, who over the weekend was honored at the Renew Democracy Initiative Gala 2026, is expected to return to the country in the coming days.

He reportedly left Uganda following heightened security presence at his residence after the 2026 general elections, where he had participated in the voting process.
