Four people, including a child, were killed on Tuesday morning after a perimeter wall collapsed onto two residential houses in Butto Zone, Bweyogerere Division, Wakiso District.

The tragedy occurred at around 6:30 a.m. on October 20, 2026, during a heavy downpour, leaving four occupants dead and the landlord injured.

The deceased have been identified as Okoth David, 25; Angella Inebe, 28; Alaba Lucy, 28; and Lucy’s juvenile son. They were occupants of the two houses struck by the falling wall.

The landlord, Ssenyoga Francis, survived the incident but sustained injuries and was rushed to a health facility for treatment.

Preliminary police findings indicate that heavy rainfall and flowing water from the premises of Delux Company put pressure on the company’s perimeter wall, causing it to collapse onto the neighbouring residential houses.

The four occupants were reportedly killed instantly.

Police officers responded to the scene, recorded statements from witnesses and later transferred the bodies to KCCA City Mortuary at Mulago for postmortem examinations.

Investigators are now examining whether recent renovation works at the company contributed to the disaster.

According to preliminary information, Delux Company had recently acquired the factory and was carrying out renovation works, including grading its compound.

Police are investigating whether the works and the drainage arrangements contributed to the accumulation and flow of water that preceded the collapse.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of structures and drainage systems, particularly during heavy rainfall, when poorly managed water can put pressure on walls and neighbouring properties.

Kampala Metropolitan Police has urged property owners, construction companies and developers to ensure that their structures are sound and that adequate drainage systems are in place.

Police have also called on developers to assess how construction and renovation works could affect neighbouring properties and take precautions to protect lives and property.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collapse are ongoing.

Kampala Metropolitan Police has conveyed its condolences to the families of the four deceased.
