Davido has gifted former DMW artiste Mayorkun a brand-new Tesla Cybertruck, showing that their friendship remains strong years after they stopped working together.

Davido signed Mayorkun in 2016 after discovering him through a cover video on social media.

The singer went on to release hit songs such as “Eleko,” “Mama,” “Che Che,” and “Betty Butter,” becoming one of the label’s biggest stars.

Mayorkun left DMW in 2021 after his recording contract ended to continue his career as an independent artiste.

Although they parted ways professionally, the two artists have continued to support each other and have repeatedly dismissed rumours of a fallout.

Davido’s latest gift has once again highlighted their close bond.

Fans praised the Afrobeats star for the generous gesture, with many describing it as a true sign of loyalty and brotherhood.

Usher has sparked debate online after ending an onstage performance with a fan who appeared uncomfortable during his Past Present Future Tour stop in Nashville.

The R&B star regularly invites fans on stage and serenades them during his concerts.

This time, however, he quickly noticed that one fan was not enjoying the experience.

Gabrielle Cheyenne, a nurse and mother from Chattanooga, Tennessee, later said Usher’s team upgraded her and her mother to VIP before selecting her to join him on stage during “Can U Handle It?”

Videos from the concert showed Cheyenne pulling back as Usher performed around her.

The singer immediately picked up on her body language and brought the interaction to an end.

I do not think she wants to be on the stage.

Usher then asked staff to escort Cheyenne back to her seat before continuing the show.

After the video went viral, Cheyenne explained that she had no idea what the onstage segment would involve.

She said she welcomed the opportunity because few people would turn down the chance to join Usher on stage, but insisted she did not have to do anything that made her uncomfortable.

The incident quickly divided social media.

Many fans praised Usher for recognising the situation and respecting Cheyenne’s boundaries, while others argued that audience participation has always been part of his concerts.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has picked gold dealer Juma Witonze Kisekka for the vacant position of Minister of State for Internal Affairs, sending his name to Parliament for vetting.

Kisekka’s nomination was confirmed to Red Pepper by Hajji Faruk Kirunda, the Deputy Press Secretary to President Museveni and Special Presidential Assistant for Press and Mobilisation.

If approved by Parliament, Kisekka will take over a docket that has remained empty since the collapse of Dr Lawrence Muganga’s nomination during the parliamentary vetting process.

Kisekka, a prominent gold dealer with business networks in Uganda and beyond, is also known for his close association with Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) cadres.

His nomination comes after months of uncertainty over who would fill the State Minister for Internal Affairs slot following Muganga’s failure to secure parliamentary approval.

Sources had in recent weeks indicated that Kisekka was among the names being considered by the appointing authority as a replacement.

The nomination now shifts the spotlight to Parliament, where Kisekka will face the vetting process before he can officially assume office.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is one of the country’s key security and governance dockets, responsible for coordinating internal security policies and overseeing institutions including the Uganda Police Force, Uganda Prisons Service, Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC), and the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA).

Kisekka is expected to appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, which will scrutinise his qualifications, experience and suitability for the ministerial role.

Should he sail through the vetting process, he will be sworn in and begin work at a ministry that sits at the centre of Uganda’s internal security and public order affairs.

Mesach Semakula believes quality music is making a comeback, saying more Ugandan artists are returning to songs with meaningful messages and lasting value.

Speaking to on Sanyuka TV‘s Uncut, the veteran singer said he has noticed a positive shift in the industry as audiences increasingly embrace music with substance over short-lived trends.

Mesach also urged the Ministry of Ethics and Integrity to take a more active role in addressing what he described as growing moral decay in society.

He argued that vulgarity, indecent behaviour and explicit content have become increasingly common, warning that the trend is contributing to what he called a “generation decay.”

The Ministry of Ethics and Integrity should step in and help reduce moral decay in society.

Mesach said restoring moral values should not rest with the government alone, adding that parents, artists, leaders and the public all share responsibility for shaping the next generation.

Despite his concerns, he remains optimistic that quality music will continue to reclaim its place in Uganda’s entertainment industry as more artists focus on meaningful content.

Lydia Jazmine has dismissed long-standing claims that she has ever feuded with fellow singer Rema Namakula, saying fans and online critics created a rivalry that never existed.

For years, rumours linked the two singers to an alleged fallout, especially when Rema was in a relationship with Eddy Kenzo.

Lydia Jazmine’s close friendship with Kenzo fuelled speculation that the two artistes were not on good terms.

Speaking in a recent interview, Lydia Jazmine said she has never had a problem with Rema and has always admired her.

I do not have any problem with Rema Namakula. Fans know how to create a feud between artists, and I have seen it so many times. It hurts a lot. Even when artists are not close or do not hang out together, it does not mean they have bad blood.

She added that she has looked up to Rema since her school days and even performed her songs long before they became colleagues.

From the bottom of my heart, I have never beefed with her. I do not know about her side, but for me, never. Even when I was still at school, I used to mime her songs.

A brother to former of government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo has been remanded to Luzira Prison after being charged with  unlawful disclosure of   Dr  Tanga Odoi’s personal data.

Opondo Dem Gaster, 38, a political activist from Tororo District, was on Monday  remanded by Nakawa Chief Magistrate Asuman Muhumuza .

This was after being charged with unlawful obtaining or disclosing of personal data contrary to Section 35(1) and (2) of the Data Protection and Privacy Act, Cap. 97.

The prosecution alleges that Opondo used his X account, @dem_opondo, to publish Dr. Tanga Odoi’s name and photographs without his prior consent.

The alleged offences are said to have been committed on May 26, 2026, and July 7, 2026, in various parts of Uganda, including Kampala and Tororo districts.

Court documents state that the publication of the information was made without Dr. Tanga Odoi’s permission, an act the prosecution says contravenes the Data Protection and Privacy Act.

Opondo formerly a Staunch National Unity Platform Supporter who later crossed and joined the ruling National Resistance Movement was arrested last week. He denied charges against him.    

He had been detained at Jinja Road Police Station prior to his production before the Court on Monday afternoon. 

He applied for bail and presented sureties including Laston Oyuk and his neighbors from Tororo. 

But the Prosecution requested for more time to verify the sureties presented. 

Subsequently, he was remanded to Luzira Prison until August 5, 2026, when he is expected to return to court as investigations continue. 

The complainant Dr Tanga Odoi also showed up in Court 

He  previously complained  that Dem Gaster has been using his social media accounts to tarnish his name which he says has built for a while.

KAMPALA, Uganda — The Uganda Police Force has intensified its crackdown on the illegal charcoal trade in the West Nile Sub-region, arresting eight suspects during a joint security operation aimed at enforcing the Presidential ban on charcoal production and trade and protecting the country’s forest resources.

According to Police Spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma, the operation was conducted by the Police’s Environmental Protection Police Unit (EPPU) in collaboration with the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and the National Forestry Authority (NFA).

The latest enforcement operation took place on 25 July 2026 in Madi Okollo District and surrounding areas, targeting individuals suspected of engaging in the illegal production, transportation and commercial trade of charcoal.

During the operation, security agencies impounded 72 bags of charcoal, which were secured as exhibits at Madi Okollo Police Station. Eight suspects were arrested and have since been charged with illegal dealing in forest produce, specifically charcoal, contrary to the law and the Presidential directive.

Police said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to enforce Executive Order No. 3 of 2023 on Environmental Protection, issued by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in May 2023. The directive prohibits the burning, production, transportation and commercial trade of charcoal in Northern and North Eastern Uganda, including the sub-regions of Karamoja, Teso, Lango, Acholi and West Nile, as part of broader efforts to combat deforestation and environmental degradation.

ACP Kituuma warned that anyone involved in the illegal charcoal business or other activities that destroy forests and degrade the environment risks arrest and prosecution.

“The Uganda Police Force strongly warns all individuals and groups involved in the illegal production, transportation and trade of charcoal, as well as activities that contribute to environmental degradation, that such acts are criminal and will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law,” he said.

He added that joint security and environmental protection agencies will continue sustained enforcement operations across the affected regions to ensure full compliance with the Presidential directive.

Police further emphasised that all offenders will be arrested and prosecuted, while any charcoal and other exhibits recovered during operations will be impounded.

The force has also appealed to members of the public to support the fight against environmental destruction by reporting illegal charcoal production, transportation and other activities that threaten forests to the nearest police station or relevant authorities.

Authorities say the intensified operations form part of the government’s broader commitment to conserving natural resources, restoring degraded ecosystems and promoting sustainable environmental management across the country.

KAMPALA, Uganda — The Uganda Police Force has issued a strong warning against election-related violence and misconduct ahead of the Local Council elections scheduled for Tuesday, 28 July 2026, urging candidates, supporters and the general public to uphold peace and the rule of law throughout the electoral process.

In a statement released today, Police Spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma reminded all stakeholders that campaigns officially end on Monday, 27 July 2026, and stressed that no campaigning will be permitted beyond the prescribed period.

He said the Police, working jointly with other security and administrative agencies, are fully prepared to ensure that the elections are conducted in a peaceful, lawful and orderly manner.

“The Police together with other security and administrative stakeholders will not tolerate any form of misconduct that undermines the integrity of the elections,” ACP Kituuma said.

He warned that acts of intimidation, violence, threats, tampering with election documents, obstruction of election officials, campaigning outside the permitted period, disorderly conduct, voter influence at polling stations and any attempts to disrupt the voting process will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.

The Police also cautioned against processions, public disorder, fighting, physical assaults and any other actions likely to cause fear, confusion or disrupt the electoral exercise.

According to ACP Kituuma, security agencies have put in place measures to safeguard voters, election officials and electoral materials while maintaining law and order throughout the polling period.

He urged all citizens to respect the election timetable, comply with instructions issued by election officials and allow the voting process to proceed without interference.

“Those who choose to engage in bad practices or break the peace should expect decisive police action,” he warned.

The Police further appealed to all candidates, political actors and their supporters to demonstrate responsibility, discipline and respect for democratic principles before, during and after the elections.

ACP Kituuma also reminded the public that Uganda’s electoral process provides lawful mechanisms for addressing grievances arising from the elections.

He encouraged any dissatisfied candidate or voter to use the established legal channels to seek redress rather than resorting to violence or actions that could undermine peace and public order.

The Uganda Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to working with all stakeholders to ensure that the Local Council elections are conducted in a free, peaceful and secure environment.

The Speaker, Jacob Marksons Oboth has called on Members of Parliament serving on public accounts committees to approach oversight as a duty to safeguard citizens’ trust rather than a platform for political score-settling.
“Your duty is not to hunt individuals nor to settle political scores. Your duty is to restore public confidence that government resources are used for the purposes approved by Parliament,” Oboth said.

The Speaker made the remarks while closing a two-day induction for the public accounts committees at Imperial Golf View Hotel in Entebbe, on Friday, 24 July 2026.

He outlined the principles of fairness, independence, professionalism and timeliness emphasising that their success should be measured by improved public service delivery rather than the number of reports produced or witnesses summoned.

Oboth stressed that delayed accountability undermines Parliament’s oversight role and called for findings grounded on evidence, free from political influence.

The Speaker also urged Parliament to uphold the same standards of integrity it expects from public officials noting that unresolved audit queries often translate into poor service delivery.

“When the people of Uganda entrust us with the responsibility to oversee their resources, what exactly are they placing in our hands?… They are placing in our hands their trust,” Oboth said.

Public Accounts Committees are central to Parliament’s oversight function, examining government expenditure and audit reports to ensure public funds are used for their intended purposes.
