KAMPALA – The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has issued a strong statement condemning the recent utterances made by the President of the National Unity Platform, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, against General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the chairman of PLU, and President Yoweri Museveni. During a rally in Soroti City on November 9, 2024, Kyagulanyi allegedly referred to the people of Teso as “slaves” and General Muhoozi Kainerugaba as “stupid”.
The PLU fraternity has categorically stated that Ugandans are not slaves and that General Muhoozi Kainerugaba is a respected public servant and commander of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces, who has earned his position through bravery, experience, and hard work. They emphasized that General Muhoozi has been instrumental in defending Uganda and the African region, promoting peace and democratic governance.
The PLU has urged Kyagulanyi to refrain from using name-calling and lies to solicit support, instead encouraging him to focus on constructive politics. They condemned his behavior as unacceptable and divisive, noting that Ugandans have moved away from politics of blackmail, tribalism, and sectarianism.
The statement also thanked General Muhoozi Kainerugaba for his calmness and steadfastness, demonstrating his capacity to handle Uganda’s affairs. Additionally, the PLU expressed gratitude to Ugandans who have consistently rejected divisive politics and continue to support the National Resistance Movement and Patriotic League of Uganda.
It’s worth noting that General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of President Yoweri Museveni, has been a prominent figure in Ugandan politics, and his leadership of the PLU has been seen as a significant development in the country’s political landscape. The PLU, formerly known as the MK Movement, aims to promote national unity, peace, and stability, as well as advocate for environmental protection and good governance.
