KAMPALA – As the festive season approaches, the Uganda Police Force has assured the public of their commitment to ensuring safety and security during the celebrations.
According to Police Spokesperson, Rusoke Kituuma, “We want to assure the public that we have put in place measures to ensure their safety and security during the festive season. We urge everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.”
Kituuma noted that the festive season is usually characterized by an increase in criminal activities such as theft, burglaries, and traffic accidents. However, he assured the public that the police are ready to deal with any situation that may arise.
“We have increased our patrols and surveillance in all areas, particularly in crowded places such as markets, shopping centers, and entertainment venues,” Kituuma said. “We also urge motorists to be cautious and follow traffic rules to avoid accidents.”
The police have also issued guidelines for those planning to display fireworks during the celebrations. Kituuma warned that anyone found violating these guidelines will face the full force of the law.
“We urge everyone to follow the guidelines and ensure that they obtain permission from the Inspector General of Police before displaying fireworks,” Kituuma said. “We also remind the public that fireworks can be dangerous if not handled properly, and we urge everyone to exercise caution.”
In addition to the guidelines, the police have also reminded the public of the importance of being mindful of their personal belongings, especially in crowded areas.
