KAMPALA, Uganda — Tecno, a leading smartphone manufacturer in Africa, unveiled its Camon 40 series in Uganda, highlighting the devices’ advanced artificial intelligence-powered camera systems and performance capabilities. The launch took place at the company’s flagship store in Kampala.
Bruce Dickson, Tecno Uganda product consultant, emphasized the series’ technological advancements. “This latest addition to the CAMON family brings cutting-edge technology, powerful camera capabilities, and sleek design, redefining the mobile experience,” Dickson said.
Key specifications of the Camon 40 series include a “revolutionary camera system” featuring AI enhancements, a main rear camera of 50 MP supporting advanced photo capture, a front camera of 32MP, a 6.78″ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate processor, a 5200mAh battery, and the Android 15 operating system.
Dickson said the Camon 40 series is designed to appeal to a broad range of users, from photography enthusiasts to gamers, with its combination of advanced camera features, smooth performance, and stylish design.
In a partnership announcement, MTN Uganda said customers who purchase the Camon 40 series will receive 9GB of MTN data, valid for three months.
According to Ivan Mugambe, MTN Uganda’s devices manager, customers who purchase the Camon 40 series will receive 9GB of MTN data, valid for three months.
“This partnership will enable our customers to transact business better and educators to transmit knowledge better,” Mugambe said. “We are committed to partnering with other industry leaders to bring the best possible value to our customers.”
The partnership is part of MTN Uganda’s efforts to increase access to digital platforms and services across the country. The company has introduced several digital platforms, including momo markets, and has over 200 direct shops and 4,000 distributor shops nationwide.
With the addition of Techno’s own shops, customers can now access the best possible smartphone options at over 8,000 to 10,000 shops across the country.
“This means that customers, regardless of their location, can access the latest smartphone technology,” Mugambe said.
Tecno officials said the Camon 40 series will be available for hands-on experience at the Banana Life shop in Forest Mall Lugogo on Friday, March 21, and Saturday, March 22.
