244 More Test Positive as Covid-19 Cases Increase to 38,115

Kenya has recorded 244 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country’s total caseload rises to 38,115.In a statement on Sunday, September 27, the Ministry of Health announced that 3,707 samples had been tested over a period of 24 hours bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 540,308.Of the positive cases, 228 are Kenyans and 16 are foreigners.157 are male and 87 are female while the youngest case is a three-month-old infant and the oldest is aged 85. File image of a Covid-19 testing kit.Twitter At the same time, 40 patients were discharged, 30 from the home-based care programme and 10 from various hospitals around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 24,621.Regrettably, 2 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 691.Nairobi led counties with 63 cases followed by Nakuru 58, Kisii 23, Garissa 16, Kisumu 14, Mombasa 13, Kiambu
10, Busia 9, Trans Nzoia 7, Turkana 6, Kajiado 5 and Kerlcho 5.Other counties with positive cases included Uasin Gishu 2, Narok 2, Laikipia 2, Siaya 2, Kakamega 1, Marsabit 1, Bungoma 1, Meru 1, Murang’a 1, Nyeri 1 and Tharaka Nithi 1.In Nairobi, Starehe led with 13 cases followed by Dagoretti North (9), Embakasi East (8), Westlands (7), Kasarani (5), Dagoretti South (4), Kibra and Lang’ata (3) cases each, Embakasi South, Embakasi West, Kamukunjl and Ruaraka (2) cases each, Makadara, Mathare and Roysambu (1) case each.In Nakuru, the 58 cases were from Nakuru East (39), Naivasha (9), Nakuru West and Rongai (3) cases
each, Njoro (2), Gilgil and Subukia (1) case each.In Garissa, the 16 cases emerged from Garissa Town (15) and Dadaab (1) while in Kisumu, the 14 cases came from Kisumu Central (6), Kisumu East (5) and Nyando (3).Experts predict that the Covid-19 curve in the country is likely to flatten in two weeks time even as Kenya Medical Association (KMA) maintains that reduced cases is as a result of reduced testing.
