700 Fatalities as Covid-19 Cases Rise To 36,168

The Ministry of Health has reported 53 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 1,107 in the last 24 hours.According to a statement by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, the country’s total caseload now stands at 38,168.Unfortunately, total fatalities rose to 700 after nine died of the virus. Ministry of Health officials preparing to randomly screen members of the public for COVID-19 symptoms at the Nairobi Railway Station, on Saturday, March 21, 2020.File Sixty people recovered from the virus, 36 who are from the home-based care programme while 24 were from hospitals.Since the start of the pandemic in March, 24,681 have recovered, with 60 being discharged today. The statistics come in the backdrop of the National Covid-19 Conference which will inform the reopening of the country. All the new cases are Kenyans except 3 who are foreigners. 32 are males and 21 females.The youngest is a four-year-old child while the oldest is 76. The country has been able to conduct 541, 415 tests.The distribution of the cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 11, Meru 11, Kiambu 6, Uasin Gishu 6, Nakuru 4, Kajiado 3, Garissa 2, Busia 2, Laikipia 2, Machakos 2, Makueni 1, Embu 1, Kisumu 1, and Kwale 1.The distribution of the cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 11, Meru 11, Kiambu 6, Uasin Gishu 6, Nakuru 4, Kajiado 3, Garissa 2, Busia 2, Laikipia 2, Machakos 2, Makueni 1, Embu 1, Kisumu 1, and Kwale 1.In terms of sub-county distribution, the 11 cases in Nairobi are from Embakasi West and Lang’ata 2 each while Embakasi South, Kasarani Kibra, Makadara, Roysambu, Starehe and Westlands all recorded 1 case each. In Meru, the 11 cases are from Igembe North 9, Imenti North and Imenti South 1 each.In Kiambu, the 6 cases are from Ruiru 3, Juja Kiambu Town and Thika 1 case each.In Uasin Gishu, the 6 cases are from Ainabkoi 3, Kapseret 2 and Kesses 1. In Nakuru the 4 cases are from Naivasha 2, Nakuru East and Nakuru West 1 case each while in Kajiado the 3 cases are from Kajiado North 2 and Loitokitok 1. The 2 cases in Garissa are from Dadaab and Garissa Town while the 2 cases in Busia are all from Matayos. In Laikipia the 2 cases are from Laikipia East and the 2 cases in Machakos are from Athi River. The case in Makueni is from Makueni, the case in Embu is from Manyatta, the case in Kisumu is from Kisumu Central and the case in  Kwale is from Matuga.
