In a country where the level of unemployment is at an all time high, an unknown person has raised the bar higher by placing his job application in one of the dailies.
According to an advert placed in the Daily Nation on Wednesday, November 16, the individual who did not reveal his or her identity, called on companies looking for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a Chief Operations Officer (COO) or a General Manager (GM) to get in touch.
“I am looking for a job as a CEO, COO or GM” read the advert’s headline.

File The quarter-page advert outlined the level of skills and experience that the advertiser has under their belt that makes them suitable for the top management roles.
“I have over 30 years experience in local and multinational companies in diverse products including steel, packaging, horticulture and floriculture,” read the advert in part.
Furthermore, the advertiser who shared an email address, indicated that part of the experience amassed was in sales and marketing as well as finance and administration of large companies across several countries.
According to the advert, the individual has worked in East Africa, Australia and Singapore from where they have got exposure that they believe will be valuable to the company that decides to employ them.
“I am GP, EBITDA and bottomline focused” the advertiser highlighted as part of their experience and competitive advantage for the positions they were hoping to get job offers in.
Apart from experience, the advertiser also highlighted their academic credentials that included a Masters’ degree in education having been trained both locally and internationally.
The job seeker concluded the job advert by indicating that interested employers should get in touch via an email address.
An insider at the Daily Nation revealed to Kenyans.co.ke that placing a quarter page advert on the national paper could cost you about Ksh157,000.
This means that the job seeker splashed about Ksh157,000 on the quest to seek for a job opportunity.
Kenya’s unemployment rate stands at 5.7 per cent according to the World Bank.
