Armed thugs held hostage an entire trading centre as they terrorised traders, robbing money and personal belongings.
Eyewitnesses said that four people with hoods raided Boka Stage at Bangali Trading Centre in Tana River County on Friday afternoon, February 19.
A group of officers from Bangali Police Station rushed to the scene a few minutes after residents raised alarm only to find that the gang had already fled the centre.
The law enforcers interrogated the residents and ascertained that 27-year-old Muhamad Guyo, a mobile money operator, was robbed of Kshs 250,000 cash he had stashed at his shop.

Twitter The police reported that the robbers also injured Patrick Mwendwa as they stole Ksh 75,000 from him. Mwenda also lost six bottles of water worth Ksh 600, three sachets of milk costing Ksh 150, Ksh 8,000 airtime scratch cards and a Ksh 6,000 miraa carton.
“The injured were rushed to Bangali Nursing Hospital where they were treated and discharged. The hooded robbers who were armed with one AK 47 rifle fled using a motorbike towards Boka. We, however, didn’t get the bike’s registration number,” a police statement read.
Detectives added that they recovered several rounds of ammunition that were left behind by the thugs.
Police officers from Bangali Police Station launched a manhunt and assured the residents that they would beef up security in the town and its environs.
