Babu Owino, on Friday, November 11, set the record straight about a viral Class 8 Mathematics quiz making rounds on social media.
In the question, a Chebukati and a Koome were given Ksh815,000 to share in the ratio of 2:3, respectively, with candidates tasked to solve how much the latter would get.
Some Kenyans alluded that Embakasi East MP Babu Owino had a hand in setting the quiz, with others arguing that it was intentionally set to tarnish the reputation of certain independent state officers.

Babu vehemently denied the accusations, distancing himself from the post.
“The allegations are coming from my unworthy opponents who are trying to soil my otherwise good name,” he lamented further.
The legislator started his online classes during the pandemic, aiding candidates to revise at home after schools were shut down.
His efforts earned him recognition from the United Nations and Voice of America (VOA).
“The pandemic has seen different people device mechanisms to ensure students continue learning while staying home.
“Babu Owino is a Kenyan MP who has decided to use his talent in science subjects to educate students using his social media platforms,” VOA wrote in a special feature in May 2020.
In November 2022, a teacher in Homa Bay live-streamed the lawmaker’s online classes to motivate and teach his KCPE candidates.
