A prominent businessman was shot dead in his house on Sunday night, September 20, in Kitale County. Jacob Omondi, 62, was shot four times in the chest by a gang of armed thugs who raided his home. Trans Nzoia county police commander Ayub Gitonga Ali confirmed the incidentThe goons waylaid the deceased after trailing him from Kitale town for several hours and caught him unawares as he was feeding his dogs. Police launched a manhunt for the armed group as they also initiated investigation into the incident. Detectives, however, stated that they had not yet ascertained the motive behind the businessman’s killing. Police seal off road in Nairobi during a past protestFile A relative of the deceased stated that the gang may have known the businessman as depicted from an argument which ensued moments before he was murdered. “When I rushed out to see what had happened, I found his body lying in a pool of blood.”He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. He succumbed to the gunshot wounds,” the relative stated. Area Chief Julius Onyancha urged residents to share any information concerning the businessman’s death or any other information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects.
