A man, said to be a drug addict stormed a church service on Sunday, September 20, in Makuyu, Murang’a County, threatening to stab the pastor.The man caused a commotion at the Jesus Kingdom Embassy Ministry when he attempted to attack the pastor using a knife.Pastor Joseph Barasa initially thought that the man had attended the service to receive salvation but things took an ugly turn when he threatened to stab him. Church faithful in Embakasi dispersing following a police raid on March 22, 2020 | ERIC AMBUCHEFile “The incident happened at around 11 a.m. when I was preaching, the man came into the church like a normal church member but he later stood from the congregation to attack me.”Luckily the members of the church swiftly responded and took the knife away from him, ” explained the pastor.The church members claim that the man targeted the pastor due to his strong campaigns against drug and substance abuse among the youth in the area.”He has been pelting the pastor with stones the whole week, he later came to attack the pastor on Sunday with the aim of killing him.”He hoped that it would stop his campaigns against bhang, cigarettes and all the other harmful drugs because the pastor has been strongly opposing drug abuse,” said James Musyoki, a member of the church.Residents and church members are now calling on the government to provide security during church services and assign offers to pastors.They claimed pastors have been a target of drug addicts in the area and asserted that the latest incident proved that pastors lives were at risk.The man was later handed over to Makuyu Police Station where he was detained with investigations launched into the incident.Watch Video Below:
