News just in confirms that Makerere Guild President Julius Kateregga and his Kyambogo University counterpart Jonathan Tundulu have been denied the flag of Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) ahead of the 2021 general elections.
Kateregga had earlier this week made his intentions clear to represent Kawempe South as their Lord Councillor LCV to the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) legislature.
His colleague Tundulu had been weeks old in the race for LCV Councillor representing areas of Ntinda, Banda and Nabisunsa.
The two, our sources inside the vetting committee of NUP/People Power have confirmed will not be declared flagbearers as the party seeks to front and support their opponents for the said seats.
These are however not the only ones in the NUP/People Power Institutions Wing that have had to face the axe in ticket allocation for prospective flag bearers.
Mbogga Patrick, the Guild Pesident of Nkozi has similarly been denied the chance to represent Mutundye Ward, Makindye Ssaabagabofor the same position.
Ssendyowa Frank, the Guild President of Muteesa I Royal also sought to be the Councillor LCV for Muduuma but he has also been axed.
Mr. Ssendyowa (Left)Our snoops predict that even the former Makerere University guild president Roy Ssemboga who is the Head of Institutions in People Power may also not get a chance to represent the party in the Kawempe South MP position as the party is allegedly favoring former NBS presenter Kazibwe Bashir.
The wave within the party structures may by the end of the vetting process be without any member from the Institutions Wing cleared for contesting.
The party is going to reveal the successful candidates in a few days and ask the unsuccessful ones to rally behind them.
We are yet to pick the minds of the said guild presidents to see what their next moves may be. Will they forego the party and run as independents?
