The family of slain blogger, Frank Obegi, has expressed shock over the heinous murder of their son.
Speaking to the press at City Mortuary, on Tuesday, June 21, Obegi’s father, Evans Bowendo, stated that he learnt about the death of his son through one of his friends.
Bowendo stated that his son went missing for days while in company of his friends.

File “One of his friends called me and told me that my son Franklin has been found at City Mortuary. I sent my brother to come here and check whether it’s true and they found his body,” stated the father.
Questions about Obegi’s source of income and his unexplained lavish lifestyle were also rife.
“I thought my son sold air tickets online. That is what he had told me when he left home in February. But now that he has been found dead, I am also shocked what is it that made my son die the way he did,” Bowendo wondered.
“He had money. When he got the money you could see on his WhatsApp status he was in Mombasa, sometimes he was in an aeroplane. I asked him and he told me the money he has is usually commission from the business he was doing.”
Obegi’s body was found alongside those of Elijah Omeka, Fred Obare and Moses Nyachae in Kijabe Forest and Magadi area.
Obare who lived in the Sunton area, Kasarani, was well known in entertainment spots in the area. Neighbours thought he was engaged in academic writing and so did his parents.
Reports indicated that Obare was arrested last year after he conned a man through cryptocurrency deals. He was taken to Kasarani Police Station and later picked up by detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and based at Ruiru police station.
The four friends led expensive lifestyles and their close associates claimed they usually took flights around the country and bought bottles of expensive drinks

Facebook Obegi’s brother told journalists that his brother was a blogger and since he had a big following on social media he never doubted the kind of work he did.
“He was a person who was working online and he was an active person on social media, he was a trendsetter and a blogger, maybe he was at the wrong place, at the wrong time with the wrong guys,” stated Obegi’s brother.
