Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday, November 6, joined in on congratulating Donald Trump as the new President of the United States of America in the ongoing national elections with a cryptic message.
Even though Trump has not been declared the victor yet, Gachagua took the opportunity to salute the resilience displayed by his comeback into America’s top seat. Gachagua’s cryptic message shared on social media comes just weeks after his speedy impeachment and replacement, sparking widespread speculation about his next move.
“Congratulations, President Donald Trump, for one of the greatest political comebacks of our generation. Your victory is clear proof that resilience and a never-say-die attitude will always TRUMP obstacles on the path to your destiny. God Bless You. God Bless America,” Gachagua wrote on his social media.
Trump who also faced impeachment trials like Gachagua during his first tenure between 2016 and 2020, has attracted several congratulatory messages all across the world including from several other Kenyan politicians.

Per recent projections, he is expected to scoop the seat once again to serve for a second term once he scoops over 270 collegiate electoral votes. If this happens, he will be the second US president to serve two non-consecutive terms since Democrat Grover Cleveland who served between 1884 to 1888 and again between 1892 to 1896.
During his tenure as the 45th POTUS between 2016 and 2020, Trump went through two impeachment trials, his second trial actually including 10 Republican House Representatives voting in favour of his impeachment on January 6, 2021. Eight of them have since been purged out of the house with only two still vying in this year’s elections.
Despite the two impeachment trials, Trump was able to stay in office until his term ended, but his troubles did not end there. Several court cases were brought up against him upon his exit from the top seat, with some still in court.
Having faced four trials over the past four years spreading over 91 charges, Trump was found guilty in New York with a jury convicting the President in waiting of falsifying business records. Trump, when sworn in next year, will be the first convict in American history to serve as first-in-command. However, his victory would also mean that all his state cases in Georgia and New York states as well as his federal cases, would inevitably be put on ice.
Although not as lucky as Trump having lost his second-in-command seat only two years into office, Gachagua has made several public appearances hinting at a comeback into Kenya’s political scene as well.
Gachagua has consistently told Mount Kenya region residents to watch and wait as their day of redemption is coming. His post congratulating Trump on this monumental win also hinted heavily at getting motivated for a brighter path ahead.
Ndindi Nyoro, who had notably remained silent during the impeachment trial of Gachagua, was among the first Kenyan politicians who took to social media to prematurely congratulate Trump based on projections following an early lead against the Democrat Party’s Kamala Harris.
“Congratulations President Donald Trump, the 45th and 47th. Republican policies have always been better for Africa and the Global South. The Global Economy will definitely be better with imminent monetary easing under Trump,” Nyoro stated.
Other Kenyan politicians who have congratulated him include; Kalonzo Musyoka, Babu Owino, Mike Sonko, Anne Waiguru, Oscar Sudi, and Didmus Barasa.
