The National Assembly Majority Leader, Kimani Ichung’wah, has revealed the instrumental role he played in bringing together President William Ruto, Raila Odinga, and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking during an interview on KTN on Wednesday night, Ichung’wah stated that he had held candid conversations with the President in both instances and advised him to reach out to the two.
“I don’t even know if I should disclose this. Sometime last year I had a very candid engagement with President William Ruto. Before that, I had a telephone conversation with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and I told President Ruto to reach out to the former Prime Minister,” Ichung’wah stated.
“Fast forward, sometime this year, I had another candid conversation with the President and I asked him to reach out to the former President and let us engage.”

The Kikuyu Member of Parliament stated that his inspiration to have the latter two engage was his belief in President Ruto’s government and where the country is headed.
He further clarified that even though he had been in office since 2013, he had not paid any time to Raila until that changed when he became the National Assembly majority leader.
The seat, he said, gave him a better view of the nation than he had 10 years ago.
“The Kimani Ichungwah who walked into Parliament in 2013 and was reelected unopposed in 2017 is not the Kimani Ichingwah of today,” he stated.
Ichungwah was replying to assertions that he had lost the grip on the mountain as the mountain shifted alliances to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his allies.
Instead, he decided to reveal the roles he had played in integrating the three leaders in recent months.
Since their presumed handshake earlier in the year, President Ruto has rallied behind Raila’s African Union chairmanship campaign and even added some of his allies to his broad-based cabinet.
Three days ago, President Ruto also met with former President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss matters pertaining to the nation.
