Indian police now allege that a Kenyan national accused of stabbing eight people in Mumbai had a thriving acting career alongside top Bollywood stars.
According to a statement from Azad Maidan police dated Friday, June 3, the Kenyan national reportedly starred in a television commercial that featured prominent Bollywood stars.
To convince the presiding Judge that he was the featured movie star, the investigating officers went to an extent of playing the advertisement in which the Kenyan starred during the court session.
“We found the advert on YouTube and played it, and saw him in it. We spent quite a lot of time comparing the person in the ad with the person in our custody before concluding it was the same person,” the investigating officer explained.

File Police further detailed that the Kenyan national might have been featured in another Happy New Year choreographed film.
With detectives struggling to piece together the real details of who the Kenyan really is, they have now formally written to Kenyan High Commission in India to find out if there is any more information about him available.
“We have written to the Kenyan High Commission seeking any and all information they might have on him, including the different names he has given for himself. We are also finding out from other agencies, including the Anti-Narcotics Cell, whether he has a criminal record with any of them,” the Indian police stated.
Preliminary records indicate that the Kenyan went to India to further his studies but lost his passport.
“So far, the accused has said that he came to India in 2004 with the intention of studying here. He has also stayed in Haryana where, according to him, he lost his passport,” stated an Assistant Commissioner of Police.
Earlier reports pointed out a case of mental illness regarding the accused person. The 50-year-old man changed his initial version of the story on what pushed him to attack random people on the streets.
“During the investigation conducted so far, it came to light that the accused seems to have some mental health issues. He changed his versions and also spoke about God,” the Indian officials stated.
