Motorists using the Nairobi Western Bypass have been cautioned of an upcoming traffic disruption that will be experienced on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
In an official statement, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) revealed that the disruption is due to a family-run event by the Anglican Church of Kenya-Mt. Kenya South which will be taking place from 6:00 am to 10:00 am.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Nairobi Western Bypass will experience traffic disruption along the Gitaru bound lanes on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 6.00 am to 10:00 am,” read the statement.
Following the disruptions, motorists have been advised to share the Ruaka bound lanes from both inbound and outbound traffic.

Road users have been advised to collaborate with the traffic police to ensure smooth operations even as the event goes on.
“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the statement continued.
The announcement comes after the authority announced the closure of another road.
KeNHA had on November 13, announced the one-month closure of part of the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway linking the Southern and Western Bypass.
The disruption was due to the ongoing roadworks for the construction of the right-hand side carriageway linking the two roads.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has also announced subsequent traffic disruptions in the city as renovations on major roads in the capital are set to commence within the coming weeks.Â
The upgrade is set to affect roads in areas around the Central Business District (CBD), Jogoo Road, Juja Road, Uhuru Highway, and other urban areas such as  Westlands, Kilimani, Kileleshwa, and Upper Hill.
The road works were to cover both national and county road projects. The governor has called for collaboration between all the agencies involved so as to streamline the project that is set to be undertaken.
