Nairobi Regional Police Commander Adamson Bungei has assured that the police will be on the radar and ensure they provide security to Kenyans during the Jamuhuri Day Celebrations on Thursday, December 12.
Bungei, who was speaking in Nairobi on Wednesday, revealed that all Kenyans are invited to attend the celebrations to be held at the Uhuru Gardens. However, security will be tight.
According to the police boss, the gates to the venue will be opened at 6 a.m. when Kenyans are expected to start streaming in. Preparations for the celebrations are complete and Bungei assured that those attending will be accorded security.
The commander further revealed that because the celebrations will be in the country’s capital city which accounts for over 60 per cent of Kenya’s GDP, police will not take security lightly and will ensure all measures and parameters are undertaken.

“We are putting all our measures and all the parameters having done the roadmap to ensure that during this time and period of the celebrations and festive, we take charge of the security,” Bungei assured.
Kenyans who will be traveling from the rural areas to the city to attend the ceremony have been assured of security. Furthermore, Bungei assured Kenyans of tightened security even during the festive seasons as they travel from one place to another.
According to the director of Public communications, this year’s celebrations will be taking place in Nairobi County with the theme of focus being jobs.
“The Jamhuri Day Celebrations for the year 2024 will be held on Thursday, December 12, at the Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi County, with the theme around, ‘Jobs, Labour, Migration, Entertainment and Entrepreneurship,'” the notice by the director read.
In preparation for the Jamuhuri Day celebrations, the government hosted the Jamuhuri National Job Fair on Wednesday.
The Job Fair brought together various stakeholders, including government ministries, private sector players, international recruitment agencies, educational institutions, and job seekers as a unique way of celebrating Kenya’s independence, presenting innovative avenues for networking and connecting job seekers to employers and entrepreneurs.
The celebrations aim at connecting unemployed Kenyans to employment prospects.
