NTV journalist Lofty Matambo was on Saturday, December 4, named the 2022 male journalist of the year during the Pwani Golden Awards.
The media house announced that the Swahili news presenter emerged winner in the event held in Mombasa, just days after he was promoted at the station.
His news desk colleague Fridah Mwaka was named the 2022 female journalist of the year. Mwaka celebrated her win, giving thanks to the high heavens.

Fridah Mwaka “It’s home guys, it’s ours,” Matambo wrote, while Mwaka commented, “Female journalist of the year. If not God, who else?”
In addition, NTV was recognised as the TV station of the year. This was one of two trophies the station scooped on Saturday night.
“NTV wins Kituo Halisi Award at the 2022 Kalasha International Film and TV Awards.
“The award recognises broadcasters who adhere to the communication principles as laid down in the Communication Sector Codes of Practice and Programming Code,” NTV announced.
Supporters showed their love for the two journalists, commending their partnership on screen. They vouched for them to scale greater heights in the media industry.
Matambo’s award came just three days after he confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that was promoted to NTV Head of Kiswahili.
He explained that the new role entailed working with a team of reporters and anchors in creating a Swahili culture and making Kiswahili a mainstay language.
The pair joined the Nation media group in May 2021, after they handed in their resignation letters to their former employer, KTN.
Other top journalists who ditched the Standard Media Group include Ben Kitili, Duncan Khaemba, Nicholas Wambua, Brian George and Brian Obuya.
