One person has died, and 30 others are critically injured following a road accident in Kinungi area along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.
Confirming the incident, St John Ambulance reported that the accident occurred on Sunday, 22 December, when a bus ferrying passengers from Nairobi overturned on the highway.
Following the tragic crash, a rescue team was immediately dispatched to the scene to assist in retrieving those trapped beneath the bus wreckage.
The injured received first aid from responders before being transported to the Naivasha Sub-County Referral Hospital.

“One person has succumbed to injuries and 30 other passengers were left critically injured following a road crash at Kinungi area along Nairobi-Nakuru Highway involving a bus leaving Nairobi full of passengers,” St John Ambulance confirmed.
“St John Ambulance trained community first responders have attended to the casualties giving first aid and helping in the transfer of the injured to Naivasha Subcounty Referral Hospital,” their statement added.
Videos and images of the accident showed the bus in an upside-down position and lying across the road with several residents surrounding the scene to help in the rescue process.
Meanwhile, the area traffic police officers arrived at the scene and helped restore normalcy following the heavy traffic caused by the accidents.
The morning bus crash in the Kinungi area comes barely a week after another accident occurred at the same spot leaving seven people nursing deep injuries.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, 10 December, when a seven-seater passenger vehicle travelling towards Nakuru City lost control and collided with an oncoming lorry.
Confirming the crash, St John Ambulance announced that it had dispatched a first aid team from the Kinungi Highway Community to assist the injured. The Nakuru County Ambulance team later transferred the casualties to Naivasha Hospital for further treatment.
“Seven passengers were injured this morning after their van (Noah) collided head-on with a lorry in the Soweto area along the Kinungi blackspot on the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway,” read part of the statement from St John Ambulance.
