Police reports further suggested that the deceased, who was a female, died on the spot while the rest of the victims were rushed to the hospital while in critical condition.
However, no person from the bus was injured. Meanwhile, the deceased was taken to the Narok County Hospital mortuary for preservation and subsequent identification.
The early morning accident resulted in a huge snarl-up along the ever-busy highway, with motorists forced to seek alternative routes.
Nonetheless, police officers who were actively involved in clearing the wreckage of the car from the scene towed the two vehicles, including the bus, to the Ololulunga Police Station for inspection.
The accident followed hours after another similar incident occurred in Mombasa, where a speeding lorry hit and killed a woman at the Likoni Crossing Channel.
According to witnesses, the accident occurred after the lorry, which was ferrying building blocks across the island, lost control and hit two people, including the woman who died on the spot.
However, the other male victim sustained injuries on the limbs and was rushed to the Likoni Sub-County Hospital. Meanwhile, the body was taken to the Coast General Hospital.
Moments later, police officers arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area before towing the lorry to the Likoni Police Station to pave the way for further investigations.
