Police IG Koome Announces New Nairobi Command After Kindiki Order – Kenyans.co.ke

The Inspector General of police Japhet Koome has announced changes in the administration of the Nairobi police force.
Koome made the changes in a bid to curb the rising cases of insecurity in the city. The changes are set to take effect immediately.
The announcement by the country’s top cop came a day after Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki signaled drastic changes in the police force.

“We have already started taking measures already to deal with the emerging crime trend in Nairobi. In this regard, the command of the Nairobi city police has changed effective immediately,” Kindiki stated on Monday, November 14.
Following the changes, Adamson Bungei has been appointed the new county boss and is set to replace James Mugera who has retired. Bungei served as the OCPD of Buruburu and Central police before his deployment to Baringo county.
Abdallah Komesha is the new Principal Deputy to the IG replacing Munga Nyale. Munga will now serve as the Director of Police Reforms at the Police Headquarters.
Prior to the appointment, Komesha was the Head of Personnel in the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Headquarters.
While Boniface Maingi is the Director of Operations. Maingi previously served as the National Police Service Director of Personnel and will take over from Rashid Yakub.
Notably, Yakub will now be the director of the Community Policing wing.
Judy Lamet has been promoted to the Deputy Director of Police operations. She previously served as the Director of the Child Protection Unit.
