Deputy President William Ruto has stated that he is a distinguished politician who has never lost an election for 30 years since he first contested for a seat in 1997.Ruto, who was meeting Muranga grassroots leaders at his official residence in Karen, on Tuesday, September 7, stated that he was an experienced politician who understood how to win elections.He further endorsed leaders allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), noting that he would use his experience to help the candidates win. The two leaders who received the endorsement were lawyer Edward Muriu who is eyeing the Gatanga parliamentary seat. Muranga’s Senator Irungu Kang’ata got the blessing to go for the governor’s seat. Therefore, I cannot allow these people to come and lose,” the DP stated.At the event, Ruto heaped praises on Kanga’ta, stating that the Senator showed leadership when he refused to be influenced to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).“He is someone who loves the truth. You know, if most people are given big vehicles, offices for their positions, most of them will compromise,” Ruto stated.“This man saw the truth in the BBI and he decided to write a letter. That letter brought him problems. That is a test of a leader,” the DP stated as he burst into laughter.Other MPs present also praised Kanga’ta and asked the delegates to support the senator’s political ambitions.“As we approach next year…I want to ask you to support Kanga’ta. We are praying that he gets the governor’s seat next year,” stated Embakasi West MP George Theuri.On his part, Kanga’ta thanked Ruto for heaping praises on him and endorsing his candidature for the Muranga gubernatorial seat.“Thanks to HE Dr. William Ruto for finding faith in my capabilities as a Muranga gubernatorial candidate under UDA,” the Senator stated.
