Deputy President William Ruto has spoken about his plans to join bishophood after he retires from the political scene.Speaking during a service at the A.C.K. All Saints Church Mtwapa Parish, Kilifi County, the DP revealed that he has always held the church in high regards, adding that he would like to serve God when that time comes.Ruto maintained that he was a Christian first, and that his political engagements and the office he holds were normal jobs like any other.”I do not qualify to vie for the position of Bishop for now, but when I finish my political roles, I have a plan to become a bishop. That will come late. He has previously made it clear that he holds the church in high regard.Construction work began on August 22, 2018, when he laid the foundation stone for the church. “Today (Wednesday), my husband, the Deputy President and I were blessed to have been joined by Fathers of Faith and key leaders in various mountains of influence during the opening ceremony of our National Prayer Altar at the official residence of the Deputy President.”David built an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Thus the Lord was moved by prayer for the land, and the plague was held back from Israel (2 Samuel 24:25),” read a statement from Ruto’s wife, Rachel, at the time.The DP has established himself as a man after God’s own heart, with the trips he has been making to churches across the country and donating huge sums of money.In May 2019, his donations caused a stir across the country with many questioning the source of his wealth, but Ruto maintained that he had a lot to thank God for, and that he would not stop donating.His wife Rachel is also known as a convener of numerous religious gatherings.
