President William Ruto on Wednesday, October 16, hosted American Philanthropist Bill Gates at State House Nairobi where the duo held talks.
During the meeting, the President indicated that he was seeking to collaborate with the Microsoft founder on accessible healthcare through the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program.
He added that he was also keen on collaborating with the billionaire on addressing food security in the country.
“We will continue to collaborate towards the realisation of food security and universal health coverage in our country,” he stated.

PSCU The Head of State thanked Gates for various investments he had made in the country noting the transformations they were making in the lives of Kenyans.
“We appreciate the support the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation continues to extend to Kenya in realising our development goals, especially in the areas of healthcare, agriculture and ICT sectors,” Ruto stated.
During the Wednesday meeting, Ruto led the Kenyan delegation which comprised Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u, Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, and Agriculture’s Mithika Linturi among others.
On the other hand, Gates was accompanied by his aides from the Gates Foundation.
The billionaire met with the head of state on the second day of his official visit to Kenya.
He arrived in the country on Tuesday, November 15 and toured Makueni county for engagements with farmers and healthcare workers.
Among programs Kenyans are set to benefit from the billionaire is a Ksh170 Billion funding pledge to address the ongoing climate change and drought in Africa.
The billionaire is set to engage with University of Nairobi (UoN) students on climate change on Thursday, November 17.
