Muzamir Ssemuddu alias Take Over during a boxing bout
Light middleweight boxer Muzamir Ssemuddu alias Take Over will captain the National Boxing team (Bombers) at the 13th All Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.
Nick-named ‘Mr Take Over’, Ssemuddu is handed the captaincy role in the absence of Joshua Tukamuhebwa, who is currently in Italy for World Olympics Boxing qualifiers.
He headlines the list of seven elite boxers (Men and Women), named by the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) yesterday. The team left the country this Friday, March 8, 2024, for Accra.
Other boxers awaiting 2023 Africa Games include Owen Kibira (Welterweight), Innocent Amoko (Light Welterweight), Kassim Murungi (Featherweight) and Innocent Tumusiime (Flyweight).
The only two female boxers are Erina Namuteebi (Welterweight) and Sharuwa Ndagire (Featherweight). Amoko and Tumusiime are the only debutants on the team.
The team will be handled by coaches Patrick Lihanda (also UBF Vice-President – Technical) and Juma Nsubuga.
Uganda won three medals (two silver and a bronze) in the last All-Africa-Games, held in Rabat, Morocco.
Masembe Isaac and David Ssemujju bagged Silver in the Games, while Hellen Baleke won Bronze.
