Following the arrest of National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine in Luuka district on Wednesday, a video of a woman armed with an AK47 rifle shouting “tuli mu struggle” literally meaning ‘we are in the struggle’ was allegedly sent to musician Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool who is on incumbent President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign trail, threatening his life.
Bebe Cool shared the video, stating that he has forwarded it to security agencies “for more scrutiny.”
“This video was sent to me by someone threatening me. I sent it to security organizations for more scrutiny. Of course we all know the People Power slogan is ‘Tuli mu struggle’. Today we all witnessed innocent people being robbed and cars being vandalized. This kind of hooliganism must not be tolerated in Uganda,” Bebe Cool posted on Wednesday.
Bobi Wine was arrested by the police in Luuka district on Wednesday and detained at Nalufenya Police barracks for defying COVID-19 guidelines set by the Electoral Commission and Ministry of Health to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
There was fire and fury by his supporters who took to the streets in Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono violently protesting his arrest.
Following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the Electoral Commission banned all mass campaign rallies and processions to contain the spread of COVID-19.
However, Bobi Wine has been consistently seen holding mass campaign rallies and processions.
