RUKUNGIRI- The Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt Rev Callist Rubaramira has urged parish priests together with their parish committees to secure land titles for church land to protect it from land grabbers.
Bishop Rubaramira was on Sunday commissioning a presbytery at Rwamagaya parish in Ruhinda sub county, Rukungiri district.
Bishop Rubaramira attributed the increasing cases of land conflict to greed and directed clerics in the diocese to process land titles.
He added that the diocese has already passed a yet to be signed diocesan land policy which will guide them on how to secure land titles.

Vanasio Natuhwera Bagateireyo the chairperson Rwamagaya catholic parish council said they are already processing their parish land titles and launched a Ugx 40M fundraising drive to facilitate the process.
Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata the Rukungiri district Woman MP urged all religious leaders to make proper use of lands at their disposal to set up income generating activities which will enable them to increase and generate income.
Hon. Natukunda thanked the parish priest of Rwamagaya parish Rev. Fr Charles Mugabe and the entire catholic community for setting up banana and coffee plantations as well as piggery projects that are helping the parish to raise some income.
