KANUNGU – The North Kigezi and Kinkiizi dioceses Water and Sanitation Project (NKKD-WATSAN) on Thursday commissioned the Mukugwe Spring Water Scheme in Kashojwa Parish in Rugyeyo Sub county worth Ugx 8.3 million.
While speaking at the commissioning ceremonyy, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kinkiizi Rt Rev Dan Zoreka who presided over the function asked the locals to take good care of the spring and ensure it lives its intended 20 years lifespan.
The event was also attended by Kanungu District Chief Administrative Officer David Betega Tweheyo who hailed the Religious Based organizations like NKKD-WATSAN for supplementing government efforts in extending clean and safe water to the communities.
The Archdeacon Rugyeyo Archdeaconry Ven Eric Byaruhanga said the area has been water stressed and is happy that a protected spring has been constructed to solve the problem with future prospects of extending the water the nearby trading centre and homes.
