BUSHENYI– As COP conference goes on in Egypt, local institutions have found it prudent to invest in environmental conservation by investing in tree planting and other protection measures.
An example is Butuuro Financial Services who have chosen to invest in mitigating the effects of climate by planting tress and supplying tree seedlings to communities, Schools and churches.
While giving out the seedlings at Butuuro Sacco headquarters in Nyakabirizi Bushenyi district on Thursday, the manager and Board of directors chairperson Barigye Benson revealed that the bank will harvest the fruits/benefits when the environment is conducive to support production.
Some of the environmental activists who talked to our reporter said they are happy that institutions are coming out to conserve the environment because most of them have been giving out agricultural loans without minding about the factors that support or distablise agriculture.
One of the activists Chris Mugasha who is also a senior journalist who received the seedlings and was quoted as saying “these institutions have been reaping where they have not been sowing, their intervention is timely.
Butuuro Financial Services/SACCO is also celebrating it’s 15 years operation time.
