MITYANA– It was a black Wednesday for the Catholic community and other people in Mityana district following the murder of a priest by stabbing.
The deceased has been identified as Rev. Fr. Jospephat Kasambula who has been serving at Lwamata parish , Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese in Mityana district.
Reports from Uganda Catholics online indicated that Fr. Kasambula was murdered in cold blood on Friday evening 18th August 2021 by a reportedly alleged land trespasser.
Further reports show that Rev Fr Joshephat had gone to supervise works on his land and the said suspected killer is said to have been illegally staying on the mentioned land in Lukunyu village, Mamba in Busujju county Gomba district.
Our reporter discovered that Fr Joshephat on arrival asked the suspected killer who had authorised him to access the land and the house on it but unfortunately he was stubbed in the back and died instantly.
According to the locals, the suspect is a renowned drug addict and is believed to have been using the drugs minutes before Fr Joshephat got to his house.
On tip off, the area police swung into action visited the scene and the deceased’s body was taken to the yet to be known health unit pending postmortem as the search and investigation into the matter are ongoing.
