KABALE- A seven year old Girl is nursing forehead injuries at Rushoroza Hospital in Kabale district she sustained from a misunderstanding between her mother and aunt over a glass of alcohol.
The suspect has been identified as Winnie Katusiime in her 30s, a resident of Rushambya cell, Mwisi Parish in Kitumba sub county of Kabale District who doubles as the paternal Aunt to the victim.
The fateful incident happened on Sunday 6th November afternoon when the victim, a pupil at St Thereza Primary School was playing with her young brothers and sisters at their home in Karubanda cell, Karubanda ward southern division Kabale district.
The eyewitnesses Elizabeth Ninsiima and Nazari Marry Patrie said that Katusiime had visited their trading Center taking a glass of waragi in the neighbours’ bar while abusing the victim’s mother Mercy Asiimwe to have brought a bastard child in their family.
This annoyed Mercy to the extent that she attacked Katusime who was doing some house chores at her home.
They added that Katusime went wild after they had stopped her from fighting with Mercy which prompted her to pretend as if everything had gone back to normal before she picked a forked hoe in her Mother’s house and hit the victim on the forehead.
Mercy Asiimwe the mother to the victim wants the suspect to pay all her daughter’s medical bills and get arrested for diatablizing her family.
The chairperson of Karubanda cell, Karubanda Ward Charity Musimenta Said that the family of Eustinah Munanu a mother to the suspect is known for habitual drunkards that fights everyone they come across when they are drunk.
She added that two years back, Rona Ntahungwa, a daughter to Eustinah had also cut her grandmother’s face accusing her of letting her animals feed on her beans garden.
Musimenta added that the community have also started refusing to attend the village meetings of the said family whenever she calls them to settle their family violence in fear of rudeness in her family.
She vowed to summon Katusiime as soon as she is released from Police custody saying that such acts are not called for in her village.
