RUKUNGIRI- Rukungiri has registered very few babies born on Christmas day in all three major mission hospitals compared to the previous years.
The hospitals are Kisiizi hospital a church of Uganda owned hospitals, that registered only two birth a baby and baby girl, Nyakibale hospital has rehired four and North Kigezi maternal child health centre Rugarama has also registered two baby boys.

At Nyakibale hospital three boys and one girl were born on Christmas day and only one was through ceaserean section while three were normal delivery.
Pamela Aryatuha who gave birth to a baby boy said was happy to have a baby born on the same day with Jesus Christ.
“This is my 3rd born and is all boys but am happy to have a third on such day. I did not take time to give birth as I used to be before which indicate was a blessing,” Aryatuha said.
She added that she used to spend three to five days in hospital during delivery but now has spent just a day and has delivered a 3kg bouncing boy.
Oslia Twashaba of Kibombo cell, Nyakaina ward in Buyanja Town council gave birth to a baby girl at Nyakibale hospital said was her first birth and did not take her long time to deliver.
“I thank God for giving me a baby girl whom I have been praying for and especially to get a baby on Christmas day,” she said.
The district chairperson, Andrewson Charles Katebire attributed the low number of babies born in hospitals to the improved government health services.
“We have twelve health centre 111s and four health centre 1Vs in the district and they all give antenatal health care which most women use because it’s free of charge,” he said.
Katebire added that next week he will task the medical officer to give the number of deliveries in all health facilities I hope the number will triple those in mission hospitals.
“People have built confidence in government facility there is no reason to why a person can opt to pay when the free services are sometimes better than those in mission hospitals,” he said.
He added that when district gets a referral hospital majority of the private health facility will close business because people will be using government facility.
