NEWS– Local leaders and residents of Ihandiro Sub County in Kasese district have been warned against forcing their children into marriages, a reason the district was registering many cases of domestic violence.
The warning was sounded by Kato Ronald the Director Kasese Youth Link for Development during the opening of Kasese Youth link cluster in Ihandiro Sub-county at Kyibirigha C.O.U in Bukonzo county west.
Kato asked leaders and resident to be concerned, report gender based early marriages and domestic violence cases to relevant offices for best solutions than being corrupt and lazy about reporting such cases.
Kato asked married couples to include their children in family planning meetings to bring equality and good evaluation of achievements and challenges in their families.
Meanwhile Jetrida Nyakabunda, a mother and Maurine Muhindo a youth reported that failure of parents to provide basic needs to their children have influenced early pregnancies and marriages. They tasked parents and caretakers to fully provide all basics to their children.
Jackson Bwambale a church leaders at Kyibirigha C.O.U appreciated the encouragement of Kasese youth link in ensuring sexuality is reduced.
Bwambare also pledged church support in preaching towards stopping the increasing cases of domestic violence.
