By Hussein Kiganda The State Minister for Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Peace Mutuuzo, has said the ministry will inform the country of new dates for the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) elections once it gets the money. “The issue of UMA will be dealt with when we get money because we have to transport artistes from different regions of Uganda for the polls in Kampala,” Mutuuzo said in an interview. She added: Performers are not in Kampala alone; we are registering more performers, even the upcoming artists, so that they also come and exercise their democratic rights.” Mutuuzo urged musicians to be patient and wait for an official announcement, which she hopes will be made soon. On August 10, 2022, Cindy Sanyu resumed her role as the president of UMA after failed attempts to hold successful elections. In response to Cindy’s move, King Saha, a presidential aspirant, decided to open up his own office, perhaps for his voters and fans.
