KAMPALA– There is heavy security presence in Kamwokya, a city suburb at National Unity Platform (NUP) offices in Kamwokya, Kampala on Monday afternoon to calm the situation of rowdy people supporters who have gathered to mourn Francis Senteza Kalibala Kyagulanyi private body guard.
Military and Field Force Units-FFU officers have sealed off old Kira Road at the Kyebando road junction and mounted a road block after NUP offices to stop vehicles from Bukoto side. Heavily armed police, LDUs and military police officers are also patrolling the area.
Hundreds of NUP supporters started thronging the party headquarters in morning hours up to now on Monday to have the last eye on Francis Senteza Kalibala’s body, the NUP Presidential candidate’s private body guard who died in an accident when he was run over by a military police patrol truck as they drove to Kampala from Masaka.
The body of Kalibala was taken this morning to Masaka Mateete parish where he will be laid to rest on Monday evening according to colleagues found at NUP offices. Even after the departure, many people started gathering and mobilizing vehicles to follow the first groups that went with the body.
This attracted security agencies to mount road blocks and keep patrolling the premises to scare the people who had started shouting while mourning their colleague Kalibala. This reporter also observed some military offices who upon reaching, started forcing whoever was putting on red beret to put it off which also angered the NUP supporters more.
According to Muhammad Kigundu one of the mobilizers condemned this and said security personnel should know that whenever they are present, it reminds them their colleagues who have been killed by security agencies.
