Democratic Party President Norbert Mao has said he will not resign his office.
The DP President was Tuesday addressing the media at City House in Kampala.
“I will not resign despite getting less than 15 MPs as I had promised. That would be abdication.”
Mao earlier made a promise that if he doesn’t bring 15 DP MPs in the 11th parliament, people should start calling him former president general.
“I abandoned that promise long ago before elections after key DP leaders warned me never to repeat such a statement,” he said on Tuesday.
This is his first press briefing since the announcement of presidential election results.
On rejuvenating DP, Mao said he is planning to hire international consultants to help in efforts of rebuilding the Secretariat.
