Former presidential candidate Joseph Kabuleta has insisted that he will not be intimidated into silence a day after his offices were raided by security personnel.
On Wednesday, security operatives in civilian clothes searched the offices of the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue located at Luthuli Avenue in Bugolobi and briefly detained Kabuleta’s workmates.
“As thugs raided my office premises, traumatized my workers, arrested one media person and attempted to break into my private office, I was somewhere in a serene environment enjoying my cappuccino and reading a book. Stop the loot. Protect your children from the Ministry of Death,” Kabuleta tweeted on Thursday, 16 June 2022
Moses Matovu, the spokesperson of the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue, said the armed men raided and searched the office for seven hours after which they took Kabuleta’s phone that he was using during the presidential campaigns.
He said as staff, they have resolved not to enter the offices for fear that the security personnel could have planted devices in the offices.
Matovu said they have not received any explanation from the police or army, on why their office was raided.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango declined to comment on the matter, saying he needed to consult first. He had not done so by press time.
Matovu said that the raid could have been linked to the statements that Kabuleta made regarding plans by the government to vaccinate learners against Covid-19.
Kabuleta has warned schools against subjecting their learners to forced Covid-19 jabs, saying it is illegal and they risk being sued.
“Dear parents, do not believe this press release from the Ministry of Health. The vaccines are being distributed across the country and they plan to do a surprise attack next week. Go ahead with plans to save your children from heart attacks and population control agenda,” he said.
