NEWS- Kabale Municipality has received a brand new loader garbage truck and three garbage containers from the Ministry of Local Government under the Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement programme project 2 (MATIP), to help in collecting garbage from within town.
The Kabale Municipality Mayor Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha told our reporter on Friday June 10th that when construction of the modern market started, each city and Municipality where the markets would be constructed was requested to apply for any item that can help them to keep the market clean.
He said that the truck Nisan type registration number UBL 210V was received from Kampala on Tuesday this week. Other beneficiary municipalities are Entebbe, Lugazi, Busia, Tororo, Moroto, Kitgum, and Kasese, while the cities include Soroti, Moroto, Arua, and Masaka.
Byamugisha said that the garbage is meant to contribute to solid waste management which was going to be a challenge at the newly constructed market and the new trucks will promote a cleaner Municipality and contribute to the protection of the environment.
He added that they are introducing a new system of reducing garbage skips in town so that trucks can now reach out house to house on a daily basis.
Byamugisha said that the new truck will support the one they have been using, Mitsubishi registration number LG003-121 to ensure that they reduce the burden of garbage in the town.
