District officials handing over the construction contract
Karujanga health Center II in Kibuga Sub county of Kabale District is set to be upgraded to Health Centre III.
This was revealed on Tuesday by the Kabale District Engineer, Janaurio Bagamuhunda and the Acting health officer, Alfred Besigensi, at the handover of the site for the construction of a Maternity ward, a 4 stance pit latrine, Placenta pit and Medical waste pit at the health centre, all expected to cost 650million Uganda shillings.
Also included in the contract is the renovation of the Outpatient Department-OPD and other external works like drainage among others.
Besigensi noted the upgrade of this health centre will enable it to start giving a wide range of services like maternal and child health services and outpatient services among others.
The groundbreaking event
The construction works, will be undertaken by Geses-U limited.
While commissioning the construction works, the Kabale District LCV Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, commended government for continuing to extend services closer to the people and promised to continue lobbying for better services.
He says that of the 15 Sub counties in the districts its only Kibuga Sub County and Kahungye Sub county that does not have a health center III
The Kabale RDC Godfrey Nyakahuma, noted that the elevation of the health centre will bring services closer to the people of Kibuga Sub County especially the expectant mothers.
