RUKIGA– Kitanga Lions football club in Kashambya Sub County was on Friday crowned the champions of the Rukiga District Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) 5th division, during the last football match against Nyasa football club that was played at Mugogo playground in Nyakabungo ward, Muhanga town council.
Kitanga Lions football club became the champion after pulling 17 points, while the first runners-up Rukiga United football club had 12 and Kigezi sports Academy the second runners-up got 11. Nyasa FC had 9 points and Burime Tigers FC trailed with five points.
The Chairperson of Rukiga district football Association Antello Namara said that they managed to end the league successfully with the support from one of the Directors of Kigezi Home Boyz football Club also the public policy specialist Patrick Kiconco Katabazi alias (KP).
He however asked the players to always support FUFA organized games because they help in uplifting the talents of the players. He added that the five teams will participate in FUFA 4th division to select the teams which will later participate in FUFA zone 6.

Handing over the trophy to the champions, Kiconco who was the guest of honor donated Ugx 2 million to the champion team, one million to the first runners-up and Ugx 500,000 to the second runners-up while other two teams were given Ugx 200,000 each.
He pledged to continue supporting sports in the district since it’s also a source of income to the talented players. He added that once people support institutionalized games like FUFA organized games, this will help the youths to earn from sporting in future.
