• Power 70 -75 JT Jaguars
• Magic Stormers 52-75 UCU Lady Canons
In a nail-bitting National Basketball-League-Thriller played at the MTN Indoor Arena-Lugogo on Wednesday night, JT Jaguars defied all odds to edge past Power (75-70) ending their three-game losing streak.
Prior to this thrilling clash, JT Jaguars had recorded three back-to-back losses against Uganda Christian University (UCU) Canons, Our Saviour and Namuwongo Blazers.
Jaguars showed up for the game with zeal and strong determination, although trailed for the first three quarters, but always within shooting range and went in for the final bend with a point difference.
Power will attribute the loss to fatigue, having named seven players, but always rotated around six, as Nigerian Christopher Adoghe remained the only unutilized player on the bench.
Benjamin Shango orchestrated the JT Jaguars victory, scoring a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Ian Lubwama and Abrahat Dut added 12 and 11 points respectively in Jaguars’ Garage.
While Fadhil Chuma, who had decisive throws in the closing stages, contributed 8 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists to rescue the much needed victory for the Jaguars.
Power had four players scoring in double digits, including Samad Imran (21 points), Isaac Afidra (17 points), Elvis Ssentongo (14 points), and Philip Ameny (10 points).
