KAMPALA– The General Court Martial Chaired by Lt Gen Andrew Gutti in Makindye has released on bail 17 members and supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) on a non-cash bail of Shs 20million while their sureties were bonded at Shs 50Million each.
The released are part of the 35 NUP supporters who have been on remand following their arrest on December 30th 2020 in Kalangala district, while on the campaign trail with their candidate Robert Kyagulanyi.
They were charged with unlawful possession of ammunition.
According to Gutti, the 14 were granted bail among others, because they were sick and needed treatment outside of detention.
The released include; Samson Sekiranda, Mude Ntambi Robison, Don Sharif, Katamba Robert, Kyabangu Pumper, Kigongo Faiso aka Ras Faizo, Mulilira Musa, Sam Mutumba, Mukasa Husein, Sunday John Bosco, Tamale Fahad, Nyanzi William and others.
The other 21 suspects however were not released on bail because prosecution told court that their affidavits had not been fully examined and will appear in court again on 8th June 2021.
