KMP Traffic Police officer Norman Musinga
KAMPALA- Traffic Police has announced a traffic guideline procedure in Kampala ahead of Thursday’s election.
In a statement released by the Kampala Metropolitan Police traffic Officer Norman Musinga, only accredited VIPs will access Kyambogo University cricket oval grounds.
Musinga asserts that the new arrangement will run from the polling day i.e. January 14th to January 17th 2021.
He however adds that transport will flow normally along Kampala Jinja highway and the Kyambogo cricket Oval (National Tally Centre) be accessed by only accredited officials.
In the same statement, Musinga warns that whoever falls a victim in this case will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
Below here is a full traffic Police statement on the changes in traffic flow in Kampala during the tallying of national votes.
FULL TRAFFIC POLICE STATEMENT:
There will be Normal Traffic Flow along Kampala – Jinja Highway. Kyambogo cricket ground (National tally centre) will only be accessed to accredited party officials.
The accredited VIPs will access the National tally centre through Kyambogo road, Kyambogo University Western gate and park as they will be directed by “Traffic Police”.
Access to Kyambogo University will be restricted to only accredited persons.
Emergency vehicles (Fire brigade, Ambulances and medical team) will access the venue through Banda. Eastern gate will be the exit route for emergency vehicles.
No procession along the road will be allowed.Fuel farmers will be prohibited from accessing the city center.
There will be restricted movements of trucks loaded with sand, stones ,scraps, garbage and any kind of explosives along all roads in Kampala metropolitan area.
Parking along the road is prohibited, motor vehicles found abandoned by the road side will be towed to the nearest police stations at the owners cost and inconvenience .
All road users are reminded to adhere with SOPs of Ministry of health and curfew time.All motorists who contravenes provisions of traffic regulations will be delt with, in accordance with the traffic and road safety Act 1998.
The statement further advices all Motorists and other road users to compile with the above traffic guidelines to avoid inconveniences.
