RUKUNGIRI– The Police in Rukungiri district are investigating circumstances under which their own officer was involved in serious accident along Rukungiri – Ntungamo Road.
Maate said that the Officer identified as Coporal Asaph Kasirabo who heads the canine department was riding a motorcycle registration number UP 6796 and rammed into Motor vehicle registration number UAZ 499B.
It’s reported that Coporal Kasirabo who heads the Canine was trying to avoid a head on collusion with another oncoming truck when he rammed into the stationery one which was parked along the road due to mechanical faults.
Maate said that Coporal Kasirabo sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to Mbarara University Teaching Hospital where he is admitted in critical condition.
The Officer in charge of Traffic in Rukungiri District Atwijukire Bannet and his team visited the scene of the accident and the vehicle was towed to Buyanja Police Station while the Police Motorcycle was taken to Rukungiri pending inspection by inspector of vehicles to establish their road worthness.
Maate said that the accident was registered at Rukungiri Police Station under reference number TAR 39/2020 to help in further investigation.
By the time of writing this story Coporal Kasirabo was still in intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mbarara University Teaching Hospital.
